CABIN RENTAL

B.Y.O.H

(BRING YOUR OWN HORSE)

Our cozy cabin is also be available for rent to individuals or groups looking for a getaway to enjoy the privacy and solitude of "Cow Camp", and to do their own riding, when, where and for how long they want.  We have miles of trails and cross country riding and fun, sometimes challenging, riding with spectacular views and scenery to offer. (Click on any picture for larger version)

We invite you to ride on our ranch with your own horses, at your own risk. The JX Ranch is a beautiful ranch, with a variety of terrain - on the north end you have open rolling country, and as you get closer to the 400 some feet towering Caprock that crosses the length of the ranch, the terrain get more broken with gullies and arroyos.

You can continue up the ridges and canyon bottoms.  Only a couple of trails lead up on top of the Caprock, the Llano Estacado.  From there, you can ride around the various out-croppings for some spectacular scenery and views, and pick a nice spot for your lunch.  You can make your ride as easy or as challenging as you like!

Your horses need to be in good physical condition and be shod.  They need a negative coggins test as well as health papers.  We also ask that you don't bring a horse that is showing or has recently shown any sign of sickness or coughing, or who has been in recent contact with such a horse.

The Cow Camp is located in the shadow of the Caprock.  It has a set of pipe corrals for your horses near the bunk house.  Water for the horses is provided by a faucet and you need to bring your own water buckets, as well as hay or other feed.  The welfare of your horses are your responsibility.

guiding riders.jpg (130896 bytes)

If you would like for us to guide you in order to show you some of the trails, we'd be glad to do so, time permitted.  You will also be provided with a ranch topographical map, outlining the elevation differences, roads, fences, waters and some trails, etc.   All riders will be required to read and sign a liability waiver.

The cabin has a living room with a bed, a wagon-wheel sofa which makes into a bed, and a large rock fire-place.  The bedroom has two beds, with room for another bed. The fully equipped kitchen area has a 2-burner stove-top, small refrigerator with freezer, microwave oven, coffee maker, and toaster, as well as all cooking utensils.  We also provide a basic food supply of coffee, tea, sugar, flour, cooking oil and salt and pepper.   Sheets, towels and soap etc. are also provided.

Basic rental of the cabin is $50 per night, with a 2 night minimum.  Each person is $25/night.  Horses are stalled free of charge, as is the trail riding.  Returning riders always receive a 20% discount on the person/night charge.  We want this to become your "ranch away from home"!
